Loneliness can impact health, but you don’t have to face it alone. Grande Care’s companionship care brings warmth, support, and social connection.
We are more than just a Home Care company.
Older people are especially vulnerable to loneliness and social isolation – and it can have a serious effect on health. But there are ways to overcome loneliness, even if you live alone and find it hard to get out.
Hundreds of thousands of elderly people are lonely and cut off from society in this country, especially those over the age of 75. According to ageuk, more than 2 million people in England over the age of 75 live alone, and more than a million older people say they go over a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour, or family member.
People can become socially isolated for a variety of reasons, such as getting older or weaker, no longer being the hub of their family, leaving the workplace, the deaths of spouses and friends, or through disability or illness (source NHS UK). Not everyone requires specialist home care, but sometimes emotional support and assistance with daily activities can help people feel less isolated and lonely. They may wish to have someone to share an interest with, visit for a chat, or help with the shopping. Perhaps they might feel safer if someone calls to say ‘hello’ and check if everything is okay.
If you or a loved one would like a regular visitor to sit with you, have a chat or help you with a hobby or interest, please let us know how we can support. One of our carers will call and accompany you on trips out or provide quality one-on-one time in the comfort of your home. They will become a familiar trusted friendly face to help share your interests and offer companionship.
